Natasha Treunen | Trustee, Lived Experience Lead

Natasha currently works as the Programme Coordinator for the Oxford Sanctuary Community, a programme at the University of Oxford that supports students and research fellows who have been affected by forced displacement to thrive during their time at Oxford. The programme embodies the university's commitment to being an inclusive and welcoming space for people who have been affected by forced displacement. Prior to this, she completed her MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at the University of Oxford and had done her BA in Psychology at New York University Abu Dhabi. She previously worked in the non-profit sector with organisations such as Aga Khan Foundation and Ashinaga focused on educational opportunities for children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds. She has also practiced at a teacher and facilitator in Kenya, UAE, Uganda, Bangladesh and Costa Rica. Her work so far has been shaped by her own lived experience of displacement in East Africa, her academic background and her passion for advancing equitable access to education for marginalised communities as a means for social change.
