Josh Asokan | Artistic Director

Josh is an orchestral conductor, concert pianist, public speaker, and refugee law practitioner. Having performed across 4 continents and around the UK, his repertoire includes a wide range of symphonic works as a conductor, and concertos by Scriabin, Rachmaninov, Grieg and Mendelssohn as a piano soloist. Josh has won a number of awards and was endorsed by Arts Council England in 2023 under the Global Talent scheme as an emerging leader in the UK music industry.

Josh spent three years representing unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (accredited by the Law Society of England & Wales in Immigration and Asylum Law), working for a law firm in Oxford. With conduct of complex cases involving victims of trafficking and modern slavery, through to appeals in the Upper Tribunal (asylum), he has extensive experience guiding children through the UK asylum process using trauma-informed approaches in collaboration with social workers. Josh is regularly invited to speak on refugee law and policy in a variety of contexts, ranging from radio interviews and podcasts to panel discussions.
